ARHP presidential gavel ceremony takes place Tuesday afternoon

ARHP President Afton Hassett, PsyD, will pass the presidential gavel to Sandra Mintz, MSN, RN, during today’s ARHP Topic Round Tables: Networking Forum, 12:00 – 2:00 pm in the Sapphire A-B ballrooms in the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.

Dr. Hassett is a clinical psychologist and associate research scientist in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. As a principal investigator at the Chronic Pain & Fatigue Research Center, under the direction of Daniel J. Clauw, MD, her work has increasingly emphasized focusing on identifying patient strengths, promoting resilience and enhancing (and measuring) quality of life. Before launching the networking forum, Dr. Hassett will highlight 2017 ARHP achievements in the areas of membership growth, online and Annual Meeting educational offerings, research and practice tools/webinars, Arthritis Care & Research journal, health professional awards, volunteer recruitment and organization collaboration, and the newly created NP/PA Rheumatology Curriculum.

When she receives the presidential gavel, Ms. Mintz will become the 49th ARHP president. Ms. Mintz is a nurse care manager in the Division of Rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is responsible for the coordination of care across the healthcare continuum for pediatric patients living with rheumatic diseases. In this role she acts as a clinician, educator, researcher, and patient advocate.

During her presidency, Ms. Mintz will lead ARHP’s efforts to improve its Annual Meeting and online educational offerings, website practice and research tools, research webinars, Arthritis Care & Research journal, membership and volunteer recruitment, and health professional award offerings.
