Arthritis & Rheumatology (A&R) welcomes Daniel H. Solomon, MD, MPH, as editor in chief, July 2020–June 2025. Dr. Solomon is professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Section of Clinical Sciences in the Division of Rheumatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His editorial board will consist of experts in clinical, translational, and basic research spanning all assets of rheumatology and related disciplines, including Deputy Editors Richard Bucala, MD, PhD, professor at Yale University, Mariana Kaplan, MD, chief of the Systemic Autoimmunity Branch of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, and Peter Nigrovic, MD, associate professor at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
ACR Committee on Journal Publications Chair Shervin Assassi, MD, said, “The committee looks forward to working with Dr. Solomon. Based on his extensive experience, we are confident that the new editorial team can take this premier rheumatology journal to the next level by employing innovative methods and technology to serve our community better in a rapidly evolving publishing environment.”
Dr. Solomon plans to encourage submission of video abstracts, graphic abstracts, and interactive clinical scenarios to accompany articles, and is interested in including applied immunology reviews, perspectives and opinions, and clinical challenges in A&R. He comments, “I am honored to help leadA&R to stay on the leading edge of rheumatology and medical publishing. A&R serves a diverse audience and must continue to be broad in scope. Basic, clinical, and translational scientists, across all adult and pediatric rheumatic diseases, look to A&R as a premier forum.”
