Poster Presenter: Joud Enabi, MD, Rheumatology Chief Fellow, University of South Florida

Poster Session: (1149-1171) Vasculitis – ANCA-Associated – Clinical Poster B, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Monday, November 9
What is your poster about?
Dr. Enabi: My poster examines the association between sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor use and major adverse cardiovascular events and mortality in patients with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV), using a retrospective propensity score-matched cohort study.
Why did you decide to investigate this topic?
Dr. Enabi: The idea arose while evaluating an inpatient consult for a patient with AAV and discussing the case during rounds. It prompted us to consider whether SGLT2 inhibitors, known for their cardiovascular benefits in other populations, might also reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with AAV, a population with a significantly elevated baseline risk.
What are you working on next related to this research?
Dr. Enabi: Our next step is to develop and submit a manuscript for publication, further refining our analyses and addressing the study’s limitations.
What excites you most about your work?
Dr. Enabi: I am excited about the potential to identify opportunities to improve cardiovascular outcomes in patients with AAV and to generate evidence that could guide future prospective studies and clinical practice.
What are you most looking forward to at ACR Convergence 2026 in Orlando?
Dr. Enabi: I am looking forward to sharing our findings, receiving feedback from colleagues, and learning about emerging research that can advance rheumatology practice and improve patient care.
